Tips for stress reduction |
|
Reducing stress can be a big benefit to your health! Stress is a state of mind created by a response to your life or certain situations in it; so by creating different responses, this can help reduce stress and enable you to deal with what is causing it, better.
Some tips to help you reduce stress; - Exercise works! If you feel stress, then build exercise into your week; this can be a simple walk around the block, or 10 mins vacuuming the house (yes that counts as exercise!)
- Take time to breathe; often when we are stressed we forget to breathe properly and this makes us feel worse. Check out power breathing techniques and learn some – they work when you give yourself time to do them.
- Stress is a message from you, to you, that something is not right, and often just making a small change in your perception can make a big change in stress reduction. For you, what would make a difference? How could you understand the situation differently?
- Take time to consider the good things in your life; what 3 things are you grateful for? This can help put the stressful situation in perspective and help you focus on positive aspects of life- this can be a good friend, a joke you heard, or something in nature.
- Consider the root causes. Often stress is caused by feeling out of control or unable to change a situation, or unable to face the consequences of change. But the stress won’t go away unless something is done; take control, and get help if you need to.
